My journey to find my passions taught me many life skills along the way. Through mentors and my own research, I learned about personal branding, getting paid for my passions, accepting failure gracefully, finding balance in life, and more. I love sharing what I’ve learned with others through volunteer work and helping students grow to become the best versions of themselves.

Below are organizations I volunteer with, workshops I’ve taught, and speaking engagements I’ve taken part in.

I was a founder of Davis Women in Business, an organization that fosters a tight knit community of ambitious young professionals and coordinates professional events. “DWIB” creates a platform for success by combining professional preparation with opportunities for ambitious, young women.

I have had the opportunity to serve as an alumni advisor, host workshops, speak at conferences, and serve as a professional mentor, and even teach a yoga sculpt class for this organization. Topics for my workshops and speeches included A 2020 Internship Guide, Developing a Personal Brand, Acing an Interview, New Grads in the Workforce, and Women in Tech.

I’ve been volunteering with Space 4 Us since October 2019. Space 4 Us is an organization that empowers underprivileged young people to explore and pursue fulfilling careers that bring financial stability. By providing students with access to professional resources and opportunities, they seek to break the generational poverty cycle, bridge the income inequality in our society and empower students to reach their full potential.

I’ve worked with middle school and high school students to host multiple workshops, leverage their strengths on college applications, find viable career paths they’re excited about. One of my more popular workshops was titled “How to Become An Influencer.”

I return to UC Davis to speak at Alpha Kappa Psi events about twice a year. Topics include internship hunting, going from “passion to paid,” developing a good work ethic, and more.

My most recent talk at UC Davis in January 2020 around Ariana Huffington’s quote “Failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of it.”

I spoke to 100+ college students about how we wouldn’t have success with failure, and failure isn’t a reason to stop your journey towards achieving your goals. College students face a lot of pressure, and human nature makes us compare ourselves to others. I wanted to remind students that they see others’ successes all over social media, but they never see others’ failures, though we all have them.

I embraced vulnerability (thank you, Dr. Brené Brown) and projected a list of my biggest “failures” throughout college on a screen in front of 100+ people. The takeaway was not about the hardships, but rather why I was grateful for those moments. They all taught me something valuable that brought me where I am today.
